Little Bear Paintings

It happened a few years back. A tiny bear got left behind in Wakefield. Scalliwag Little Bear was off playing when Mama bear and the other babies were removed by the wildlife people.

That’s when magic hit my portrait studio. Little Bear adopted my studio’s grounds with its towering pine trees as a safe haven. He slept in a high branch of one of the tall pines, paws dangling in the air. For two months he played in and ate from the many fruit trees in the garden and we (my portrait clients and I) watched in amazement this beautiful little creature.

Then November arrived and he quietly disappeared, perhaps to rest, perhaps on a heavenly journey.

The bear paintings happened later. Last year, when I opened my bnb (at the back of my studio) I would gift a little painting of bear to each guest so that they too would know the story. I never want to forget the magic we shared.
